Elevate Your Valentines Day

With Valentine’s day approaching, we decided to focus this month’s live session on cannabis, love and sex. You can watch the recording on our IGTV or read the notes here.
Cannabis and Sex have both been considered taboo subjects, especially female pleasure. We love that cannabis seems to be opening the door to talking about sex and fun. Let’s try to break the stigma on both topics and answer all your questions.
Cannabis, sex and love
Cannabis can be very effective in helping improve your sex and love life. Research has shown that cannabis can help to increase sensitivity, ease inhibitions, and help deliver more intense orgasms.
How?
The endocannabinoid system and homeostasis help your body repair itself. This is helpful if there is pain or discomfort and low sex drive and libido.
Physically
Vasodilation cannabis can increase blood flow, mainly when used as a topical. This is good for all genders and orientations. It can make sex less painful and heighten arousal.
Mentally
Cannabis can reduce anxiety which can get in the way of being present in the moment. THC can comfortably lower your inhibitions. As a result, you may feel more open to new experiences. There are many benefits of cannabis in sexual health; it decreases inhibition and helps libido and communication. Better communication – is good for love and sex lives.
For people with penises
Cannabis can help with vasodilation and calming anxiety. Both of which help combat erectile dysfunction. Side-stepping that symptom brings you one step closer to lasting longer in bed. Cannabis stimulates sensory experiences. – think about how cannabis influences taste and sound, and imagine how it can improve sensual experiences.
Psychology Today found that marijuana does indeed act as an aphrodisiac among users. A majority of respondents said smoking weed before sex helps enhance the experience. Of course, that’s not always the case. A minority of participants said smoking kills their libido or makes them want to sleep. Others said it depends on the dose, strain, and mood.
How to get the most out of high intimacy
Cannabis helps to increase blood flow to enhance orgasms to a higher sense of connectedness, so there’s a lot to love about stoned sex. There are cannabis lubes and other topicals available to enhance your love-making, but we believe the effects of an old-fashioned joint or edible can still make the experience special.
At its worst, weed can make you paranoid, quiet, or weird, which no one enjoys while in the bedroom. High sex might be something you’re already familiar with, but, like most things, it’s the most gratifying if you do it the right way.
So let’s go through some of the pitfalls and how to counter them.
Pitfalls
Let’s get honest about the pitfalls. Whether it’s cottonmouth or the trippy change in time perception—or worse, an inability to give consent—there are crucial considerations before you start dabbing in bed.
Things to watch out for during stoned sex and how to prevent them.
- Cottonmouth – Be prepared for hydration breaks and use a lot of lube.
- Time slows down – A study found that high participants overestimated time by as much as 25 percent. If both partners use it, it most probably is not an issue, but if not, for one partner who is not using it, time goes too slowly, and the desire passes. Stay mindful, stay present, and pace yourself.
- If you get anxious or start to feel like you have had too much – Communicate with your partner and take a break.
- Consent – Any mind-altering substance can affect consent. The safest would be not to consume when you’re in a vulnerable situation, like with a new partner. Realistically, you probably will consume cannabis and get intimate – make sure your hookup knows you’re lifted. Keep water, snacks, and other calming tools nearby. And always speak up the moment that you feel uncomfortable.
- Most stoned sex mishaps can be easily prevented by responsible consumption and communication.
- Pick the Right Strain of Weed for Stoned Sex
- Certain strains of marijuana are more likely to cater to sex than others. Some tend to put you in a more cerebral mood; others are designed to enhance physical sensations. Figure out which one primes you for sex best and go from there. Users typically gravitate toward Sativa products to help increase sensitivity, lift mood, and intensify orgasm. But remember that no two people react alike, necessitating experimentation. “Everyone responds differently to different cannabinoids, so what works for one person might not work for another”. Don’t feel pressured to match your partner’s smoking experience. Do what feels best for you, and if you’re new to the cannabis community, start small and work your way up.

Ways to use cannabis to enhance pleasure
Ingesting
Smoking, edibles, tinctures and oils.
CBD lube
Great options on the market like Oh hail mary and Kiskanu intimacy oils, but be careful cause some leave a colour stain on clothes etc. There are THC and CBD infused lubes – both are good.
Remember that oil-based lubes will degrade condoms and latex, so be careful with this and don’t use oil if you need protection.
CBD suppositories
CBD suppositories can help with pain relief, enhance sexual pleasure and more. Some even say they think using them has helped reduce general feelings of stress.
High porn
Jeff Dillon, who, earlier this year, founded Xblaze, the world’s first and only 420-friendly adult film studio, crafting something nearly as delicious as Cheetos and chocolate syrup.
Cannabis and love and intimacy
You could use your high time more constructively by trying some sensual activities or a game. Or try some of these questions.
A study by the psychologist Arthur Aron explores whether intimacy between two strangers can be accelerated by having them ask each other a specific series of personal questions. You may have seen them refer to this on the Big Bang theory when they try to use it to make Penny and Sheldon fall in love.
The idea is that mutual vulnerability through self-disclosure fosters closeness and impacts the process of building a relationship. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable with another person, it encourages intimacy, “sustained, escalating, reciprocal, personal self-disclosure” is fundamental to developing a close relationship.
The 36 questions are broken up into three sets, with a gradual increase in the intensity of self-disclosure. The couple takes turns asking questions over 90 minutes.
The first set is the easiest to answer, and questions include
- What could constitute a “perfect” day for you?
- When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
- The second set is more complex like:
- If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know?
- Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
- The third set is the most difficult to answer and include:
- If you were going to become a close friend with your partner, please share what would be vital for them to know.
- Tell your partner what you like about them; be very honest this time, saying things that you might not say to someone you’ve just met.
- Research shows that these questions can help build the feeling of closeness and intimacy. Why not light up and joint and give them a try. You may be surprised by what happens.
